Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle is a 2017 fantasy adventure comedy film. It is the second part of the 1995 movie Jumanji starring Robin Williams. This movie is directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Chris McKenna. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas, Karen Gillan, and Bobby Cannavale.
The movie is about four young people who discover a video game while having detention: Jumanji. After they have chosen their characters, they get sucked into the game and become the characters they have chosen. So is Spencer, the gamer and nerd of the group, the adventurer Dr. Sahu Bravestone, rugby-star Fridge turns into zoologist Franklin Moose Finbar, the non-striking Gillan turns into Ruby Roundhouse, a Lara Croft lookalike that her ground state in a fight, and the popular girl Bethany turns into a middle-aged overweight professor. Together they must save Jumanji and finish the game to get back to the real world. This turns out to be the most dangerous adventure of their lives.
Jack Black steals the show as the popular teenager Bethany. When Bethany ends up in the body of Jack Black it is up to him to act like her. And he does this very well. He knows how to put just enough of Bethany in the character, without it being to exaggerate. You almost believe that it is really Bethany. Like when Bethany had to go to the bathroom which is a total new situation for her since she’s stuck in a male body. And this causes hilarious situations. Dwayne ‘ the Rock ‘ Johnson knows to surprise the audience with humour. You may know Johnson from explosive action movies in which he plays the leading role. But in Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle, the character stuck in his body is a real nerd. Jonhson knows how to bring this with great humour. Hilarity all around.
Personally, I think this movie is a success and a great sequel to the first movie. It has all kinds of genres in it. There’s action, comedy and fantasy so there’s a big chance you’ll like the movie. I recommend this movie to anyone who’s into these genres and loves a good film to laugh.
