This essay is about the following statement: ‘At Dutch schools pupils should wear school uniforms’.
First of all, you don’t see the social inequalities when the pupils wear schooluniforms. Children can no longer be bullied with the fact that they have less money, because it can’t be seen.
Second, fashion will play a much less important role when there are school uniforms. You can’t see who is busy with fashion and who isn’t. People won’t be bullied any longer if they don’t go along with the fashion.
Third, a school uniform creates a unity. Everyone looks the same and that creates a sense of unity.
Fourth, school uniforms are a good remedy against invaders. There are many schools here in which there are people who don’t belong there. Teachers and janitors no longer know who does and who doesn’t go to their school. School uniforms will solve this problem and immediately show it when there are invaders.
And last but not least, less people would be late on school due to not knowing what to wear. With school uniforms they won’t have that choice anymore and make it to school on time.
So, there are many reasons why Dutch pupils should wear school uniforms. And what about English pupils? They have been wearing school uniforms for years, so why wouldn’t it work with Dutch pupils?
